Big Picture
Big Picture Education is designed for students to learn through their own interests/passions. This is done by:
- Choosing something that they love and want to learn more about.
- The learning will be more personal, meaningful and fun.
- Learning that what they love includes mathematics, science and Literacy.
- Therefore they will appreciate the relevance and importance of these key learning areas.
- Students will develop a Learning Plan in collaboration with their Teacher and family.
- The program is designed around personalised learning related to the students’ interest and passions.
- Students do work that matters to them and to the community. This includes project work, research work and course work. All of the students’ work is collected in a portfolio which is shared with family members at the end of each term.
- We work to make learning real by visiting lots of places to see what hap-pens, what skills are being used and what those trades or professions involve.
- The older students go to work sites to Shadow the Tradies or Professionals each week to learn ‘On the job’.
- Students are expected to be involved in a Community Project that will develop leadership and teamwork skills, as well as stronger connection to the Roebourne community.
